Clearing Aden Airport: Yemen’s Hidden Legacy of War

During a return visit to Aden International Airport in Yemen’s de facto capital, deminers from Project Masam’s Team 24 described the ongoing challenges of clearing unexploded ordnance left behind after years of conflict. Once the site of intense fighting between Houthi forces and troops loyal to the internationally recognised government, the airport and surrounding Khormaksar district remain littered with dangerous remnants of war, complicating redevelopment efforts and posing a continued threat to civilians.
