Destroying the Remnants of War at Bab al-Mandab

At Yemen’s strategic Bab al-Mandab coastline, deminers carried out the controlled destruction of more than 1,500 explosive devices recovered during clearance operations, including anti-tank landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Reporting from the site amid strong winds and difficult conditions, this field report documents the scale and complexity of efforts to remove remnants of war that continue to threaten civilians, transport routes, and future recovery.
